To make our work as sustainable as possible, we aspire to align with the values of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Below, we outline how our processes aim to address the criteria of each goal specifically.
To promote Good Health and Well-Being, we showcase the famously healthy Mediterranean diet with locally sourced products.
Quality Education is our primary target. We believe that a good understanding of the natural world represents the foundation for a more harmonious society.
Biology as a discipline generally has good Gender Equality. However, fieldwork is at times perceived as biased towards men. We are here to demonstrate that all genders can have equal opportunities and a safe experience.
Electronic field equipment often necessitates battery usage. We ensure that we only use rechargeable batteries in our field devices where possible.
The teaching and practice of field skills and techniques improve a student’s experience and employability, promoting Decent Work and Economic Growth for future generations.
The use of various resources and outputs is constantly monitored to assess the efficiency of our strategy and make our work a case study representing Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
The location and accessibility of our site, affordable prices and inclusive teaching will contribute to Reduced Inequalities within the student groups.
We aim to involve local communities and provide business opportunities to rural, usually deprived, locations leading to Sustainable Cities and Communities.
For our catering, we favour organic products and promote local producers through the Responsible Consumption and Production goal.
All our processes from transportation to resources (water, food and energy) are developed in order to minimize our carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions in order to contribute to the Climate Action goal.
We commit to minimising single-use plastics and agricultural treatments to fight against water pollution and protect Life Below Water.
As conservationists and nature lovers, we put the protection of wild plants and animals and the increase of biodiversity on our land as priorities, meeting the goals linked with Life on Land and, by extension, Life Below Water.
We finally create Partnerships for The Goals (universities, private companies, donors, foundations, investors, etc…) to take part in our project and contribute towards these sustainable development goals.
